Amanda Owens - Maintenance and Performance officer
I joined the organisation in February of 2005 as a Cashier and Housing Assistant and initially spent much of my time on the front counter in reception. For a while the Housing Assistant role was also combined with a Repairs Assistant role as this fitted in nicely with the few months I had spent at a repairs depot with the council and my destiny was sealed. Before this I spent many years in an I.T. support environment and on leaving school actually did a mechanical engineering apprenticeship so moving in to Housing repairs has been something of a change for me.
I was repairs co-ordinator from April 2006 to 2011 and relished the opportunity to develop and refine processes as well as getting to grips with the finer points of WC pans, central heating systems and the like! The best part of course has to be dealing with the repairs issues of our tenants as, like most of us I’m sure, I love it when a plan comes together! Working with a volunteer board has been a new experience for me also and I find it gives a special insight in to what our tenants needs are as well as an insight for our tenants as to how Bushbury Hill works.
There is a lot of hard work ahead of us and there is never a dull moment at Bushbury Hill so, all in all, a lot to look forward to in making our future a bright one.
