Based on Chesterton Road, WV10 8SP is a community owned, community run social enterprise. The centre offers a newly refurbished community hall and a volunteer run community café, a community garden and a radio station. Big Venture is also host to numerous services including Wolverhampton City Credit Union and is currently a key HeadStart Hub in the area offering a full programme of activities for young people, parents and carers across the WV10 area. We work closely with the Council, who is the landlord of the majority of homes that we manage.
We have an exciting new partnership arrangement with the Council called The Better Homes Partnership which will see more capital money (£14 million over 15 years) spent on the estate on things such as fencing, roofs, kitchens and bathrooms .

Headstart is a programme targeted at four areas in Wolverhampton, one of which is the WV10 postcode. The programme is being delivered across a number of schools and also within the community. The aim of HeadStart is to target support at young people, directing professional expertise and new thinking at the most vulnerable and investing funds now to protect young people from lifelong mental health problems. Bushbury Hill EMB are the Local Trusted Organisation for Big Local.
Big Local is an exciting opportunity for residents in Low Hill, Bushbury Hill & the Scotlands to make a massive and lasting positive difference to their community. Big Local is funded by Big Lottery and managed at a local level by Bushbury Hill Estate Management Board. Big Lottery identified 150 areas across the country who hadn’t had their fair share of funds. They allocated £1Million to each of these areas to be invested in local needs. Big Local in your area is headed by a team of local volunteers who formed the Scotlands and Bushbury Hill Big Local Partnership. All new tenants are offered a Safe & Well visit, from West Midlands Firefighter’s who visit your home and give you practical and individual fire safety advice. Wolverhampton City Credit Union are a not-for-profit community bank, owned and controlled by its members who are people who live, work, volunteer or study in a WV postcode area. The aim of WCCU is "to give our members a brighter financial future by providing ethical, honest and fair community banking”. WCCU have local information and collection points where you can have a chat to find out what WCCU can do to help you – to find out more visit Low Hill Community Centre (every Wednesday 10.00am-4.00pm) and Big Venture Centre (every Thursday 10.00am – 2.00pm).
Wolverhampton Homes deliver the out of hours emergency repairs service and also the annual gas service to your homes – their gas contractor is Dodds.
We are also working in partnership together with City of Wolverhampton Council exploring the Community Housing Fund with the goal of creating new community led housing in the area.

This is a formal collaboration of both local and Citywide organisations to enable the sharing of resources, alignment of delivery and to maximise the inward investment into the WV10 area. The WV10 Consortium is currently the lead on the WV10 HeadStart Programme that is operating across the area.
